  • Welcome to Grow Creative, a community art studio. Because Salina is a Texas mental health professional, she provides Grow Creative clients with disclosure, informed consent, and confidentiality. • Salina Shelton, an art therapist, founded Grow Creative in an effort to share the healing power of art. Through Grow Creative, she offers community art classes, consultation, MARI Card Tests, workshops, and speaking services. Salina has dedicated herself to learning and practicing expressive art for wellness and self-care over the course of her professional career.

Other areas of study and training include the neuroscience of chronic pain, somatic presentation of trauma, and Shamanic studies. Salina Trained as a MARI Facilitator in 2014 and is currently training to become a Certified MARI Teacher.

  • Art-making is widely recognized across cultures as having the ability to heal emotional wounds. While the creative process can provide great catharsis and healing, it is essential to note that Grow Creative services are not intended to replace counseling, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care, substance abuse treatment, or other professional advice provided by legal, medical, or other qualified professionals.

If the facilitator determines that you would benefit from psychotherapy, they will provide you with referrals. Please note that Grow Creative clients cannot see Salina Shelton for private psychotherapy.

  • One-on-one services, including the MARI Card Test and individual art lessons, are available by appointment.

MARI Services - MARI is an expressive art assessment through which you explore your inner processes, understand your stuck points, and connect with your intuition. The art therapist facilitator will guide you through the process of creating a mandala artwork, the card selection process, and creating a second mandala. Upon completing your second mandala, the facilitator will guide you through exploring your card choices, possible meanings, and their relationship to your artwork. You will receive a report with notes from your discussion 1-2 days after your appointment.

The MARI Card Test is a single, one on one appointment. The appointment may run anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours. You may schedule a follow-up appointment should you require more time to review your assessment. Follow-up appointments are one hour in length and can be used to continue the exploration of your MARI Card Test or to discuss topics brought up by the assessment.Item description

  • Workshops are available in person and virtually via Zoom. Class offerings will vary throughout the year. Please visit the Grow Creative website for an up-to-date listing of scheduled events and their rates.

There are specific situations in which, as a mandated reporter via her license, Salina is required to breach confidentiality in order to protect you or others from harm, including the following:

    1. There is reason to suspect that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused, the facilitator must report that to the appropriate state agency,

If photos are taken during an event, you will be provided a media release form to complete. Photos will only be taken with your permission and used with your written consent.
